Title: From grapevine-omics to the matter of plant organ size - a bioinformatician lost in the wet lab

I will present part of my PhD work on grapevine-omics with a special regard to the influence of microclimate on gene expression and metobalite accumulation in grape berries. In 2007 I started working as the only bioinformatician in an ecophysiology and functional genomics lab in Bordeaux, France. The grapevine genome was just to be published and I got the opportunity to work in the context of all this new sequence information - particularly on several generations of microarray platforms.

Since spring 2011 I'm part of the genetics workgroup at the University of Potsdam. I'm contributing bioinformatics analyses for several projects studying plant organ size. I will present an outline of my work here including genome and transcriptome sequencing analyses, microarray analyses and assistance to accelerated plant phenotyping.
