Title: 3D hybrid simulation of Enceladus' plasma interaction and comparison with Cassini magnetometer data

Saturn's small, icy moon Enceladus was found to have a large neutral gas cloud (plume) below its south pole, which presents a strong obstacle for Saturn's corotating plasma. Therefore, we study the interaction of Enceladus and its plume with the magnetospheric plasma and magnetic field using a hybrid simulation model, which treats the ions as particles and the electrons as a massless, charge-neutralizing fluid.
We analyze the basic plasma-physical processes as well as the overall structure of the interaction region. Furthermore, by comparing our simulation results to Cassini magnetometer (MAG) data, we aim to contribute to the understanding of the measurements along Cassini's 1d trajectory in the context of our 3d simulations. Since our simulations are in reasonable agreement with the MAG data, we are able to impose constraints on plume geometry and source strength.
